How to get there..
Playa Papagayo is located in Barrio Barretto, Olongapo City, Philippines. If you are driving, the fastest route is via SBMA's Kalaklan gate.
If you already know how to get to SBMA via the Tipo toll road (bypassing Olongapo City) go to step 5.
If you already know how to get to SBMA's Kalaklan gate (by the cemetery on the hill), go to number 8.

- From Manila, take the Northern Luzon Express (NLEX) and exit at San Fernando (35-45 minutes north of Manila). There is a P142.00 toll. Starting 3rd week of April 2008, you can take the NLEX to the new Subic Clark Express Tollway (SCETx).
- Turn right after the toll booth. You are now on the Gapan-Olongapo road. You will go over the bridge and pass a McDonalds about 2km away. Don't make any turns.
- About 30-40 minutes past McDonalds you will see a traffic signal on an intersection. There is a Bataan monument that has a bunch of stone soldiers. Turn right. This road leads to Olongapo/Zambales/SBMA.
- About 15 minutes later you should be in the hills. Shortly after the Roosevelt National Park, you will see a sign that points to the new highway that leads to SBMA. Take that highway (left turn). There is a P22 toll.
- The highway ends inside SBMA, turn right at the end of the highway. You will pass an abandoned McDonalds building (to your right). Cross the first intersection with a stoplight. and you will see the Taiwanese industrial park off to the right.
- You will soon see the Subic Bay Yacht Club to your left. Make a left at the intersection immediately AFTER the yacht club (Burgos St.). There will be an athletic oval on your right AFTER you make the left turn.
- Turn right on the first road (Canal St). The athletic field will still be to your right. Follow this road till you reach the Kalaklan gate. After passing through the gate you will cross the Kalaklan bridge. (see map on the right)
- Make a left at the end of the the Kalaklan bridge. The Olongapo City cemetery will be on your right and Subic Bay will soon be to your left. In 5 minutes or so you will see a Petron gas station to your right (you are now in Barrio Barretto).
- Less than half a kilometer past the Petron station, Playa Papagayo will be on your left between the Subic Mirage Hotel and Hotel Suzuki signs (don't go beyond the Hotel Suzuki sign) . Immediately after (beside) the Subic Mirage Hotel you will see a Playa Papagayo sign. Make a left into the driveway.
